Art Gym’s printmaking studio is currently the only shop in town outside of a university set up for lithography. Aluminum plate, photo plate, and stone lithography – we do it all! We have three different style lithography presses.

Utilize our Digital Lab’s large format Epson printer with our 24” in-house film to generate your own positives for photo litho!


Press Reservation$3/hour.
Printmaking members trained in lithography can use any of Art Gym’s three lithography presses for only $3 an hour. This includes the use of basic lithographic chemistry (nitric and phosphoric acid), solvents (lithotine), asphaltum, rollers, cleaners and rags.


Lithography Stone Reservation – $10
Good for one image over a two-week time period.

Materials provided with stone reservation: 5 levels of carborundum for stone levigation, gum arabic + nitric acid for etching, cheese cloth, lithotine + asphaltum for washout, Shop Mix black ink.

Area Assets


  • Griffin Press, motorized: 36x60 bed. For plate litho only.
  • Griffin press, hand operated: 32x57 bed.
  • Fuchs & Lang, hand operated: 24x42 bed.


We have a batch of small and medium sized lithography stones free to use. Printmakers must be trained and certified in stone lithography to use these. Stones range from 10×12 up to 22×28.

We have the grit and the levigator – you provide the grunt work. Want your stone ground and prepped for you? Ask our Printmaking Director for the cost.

Photo Plate Prep/Processing

  • Overhead exposure unit with vacuum unit. Expose photo plates as large as 28x38
  • Positive working photo plate developer + large developing trays.


We have 10 rubber composition rollers of various sizes and roll out lengths for all your printmaking needs. Chose the size roller that best suits your project. We also have one leather roller!

Due to a rise in COVID-19 cases, Art Gym has temporarily suspended giving public tours. We are, however, still accepting tour requests and will contact you when we have reinstated giving public tours.
