Sunrise over Sand

Prong-set dyed druzy hangs in front of an oxidized silver circle, symbolic of the rising sun over the desert, a scene that I love to witness. Simplicity in design really lends itself to the intricate pattern in the agate.

Size: L = 57mm x W = 76mm

Since a young age, I’ve found joy in the simplest of things.  As I grew, this began to take form in the way that I’ve designed my art.  Formally trained in any art form that I could find a class in, I found myself with an Art Education degree and a need to create.  When I moved to Colorado, a late-night online search brought me to my journey in Metalsmithing.

For two years I took classes at Denver School of Metal Arts, after which I joined Art Gym and began my time here.  Although I feel like I’m always learning and always trying to define my style, I’ve found that the simplicity I enjoy in life worked its way into design elements of my jewelry.

Having always felt a connection to nature, I try to incorporate the imagery I see in nature into my artwork.  I enjoy simple lines and geometry, which really came to light when I began Lapidary work.  I strive to showcase the complexity of a stone, while staying true to the straightforwardness of the way nature has created something for my hands to work with, and as such, the stone tends to play the lead roll in the pieces I create.
