“I view jewelry and metalsmithing as an outlet for expression and healing for myself and those that wear my work.”

What made you want to join Art Gym? I was searching for a community where my creativity could flourish. The Art Gym offers me access to tools and equipment as well as talented artists with whom I may bounce ideas off of and learn from.

How has Art Gym helped with your art practice? Staff and other members at the Art Gym have been eager to answer my questions and guide me through finding my place in a new studio. They have taught me how to properly use equipment I have not previously had access to, offered critiques when asked and expanded my skill set through discussing individuals’ techniques which may vary from my own.

What are you hoping to communicate through your work? Currently, I have focused on making custom pieces for friends and family. I view jewelry and metalsmithing as an outlet for expression and healing for myself and those that wear my work. I hope through wearing my work, people may feel beautiful, empowered, worthy and loved in their everyday lives. Much of my work has been requested following tragedy, and I am honored to help people through difficult times through my work.

Who and/or what are some of your biggest artistic influences? My greatest influence is my high school art teacher, Mrs. Johnson. She aided me in finding my artistic passion while teaching me ways to manipulate various mediums. Additionally, she travelled abroad with me and my fellow classmates to Italy and Spain to deepen our artistic appreciation and knowledge.

What does your artwork mean to you? I am very grateful to have a community at Art Gym where I am able to create. My artwork allows me ease my mind and pour positivity into something I may carry with me. I utilize specific stones, totems, and engravings to encourage reminders of healing and peace.
