Jewelry is spiritual to me. Gemstones are magical and I use them to set intentions and as reminders to slow down or keep going depending on the day”

What made you want to join Art Gym?  I was pretty new to the art of metal smithing and needed a place to practice on a daily basis.

How has Art Gym helped with your art practice?  Building a private studio from scratch is super daunting and not something I was up for at all. Art Gym allowed me to walk into a fully outfitted space and go straight to work. It’s been invaluable to me. My skills have improved tremendously in my time here. The entire space is inspiring and the energy from other artists and staff is infectious.

What are you hoping to communicate through your work?  Jewelry is spiritual to me. Gemstones are magical and I use them to set intentions and as reminders to slow down or keep going depending on the day. I go with my intuition always and I want my jewelry to remind the wearer to follow theirs.

Who and/or what are some of your biggest artistic influences?  I have always loved art, architecture, and design. I was born and raised in Denmark and my connection to the Scandinavian minimalist aesthetic is unbreakable. Another big influence is nature and its infinite palette. And of course, the magic of the natural stones.

What does your artwork mean to you? Art helps me maintain my sense of self and it connects me to community.
