“I work in a technical field for my profession, so doing art has been a great creative outlet to help me unwind and relax.”
What made you want to join Art Gym? I was taking art classes but soon realized that I needed a designated space and facility for practicing painting and drawing consistently. That’s when I found Art Gym Denver. It is truly a hidden gem because not only do I get a space to work on my art but I also get to meet other creatives and be inspired by their work and journeys.
How has Art Gym helped with your art practice? Art Gym fosters a welcoming environment that helped me grow as a self-taught artist. The display of gallery artwork serves as a source of inspiration, as well as random, spontaneous conversation with other artists.
What are you hoping to communicate through your work? A sense of movement and calm. I love studying composition design to make my work more expressive and interesting. I also love to paint from photos of my travels as a way of storytelling.
Who and/or what are some of your biggest artistic influences? The artists that inspire me the most are Quang Ho, Lori Putnam, Claude Monet, Pierre Bonnard, Bato Dugarzhapov, Cezanne, Tiffanie Mang, and Clyde Steadman. I learned the fundamentals of oil painting from Clyde and Quang, and leveled up on composition and colors from Tiffanie and Lori.
What does your artwork mean to you? I work in a technical field for my profession, so doing art has been a great creative outlet to help me unwind and relax. In the process of practicing art, I’ve become more attuned to my emotions and intuition and look at the world with a new lens. Every piece of art is an emotional journey.
