“I hope to communicate confidence and belief in oneself through my work. I think there is enough darkness and depression in the world to focus my art around that too.”
What made you want to join Art Gym? After graduating with a BFA in Printmaking from Arizona State University in 2019, I was doing a lot of research about where and how I could continue printmaking, when I came across the Art Gym. I moved to Fort Collins after graduating and lived there for 2 years before making the move to Denver and finally becoming a member at the Art Gym! I always knew I wanted to continue screen-printing and taking my art more seriously.
How has Art Gym helped with your art practice? Art Gym has helped my art practice immensely. When I first started at the Art Gym I was doing very few art markets here and there, making art prints when I felt like it, and making bootlegged prints for concerts I would attend. Starting 2022, I got my first official gig poster for a local band that was- at the time- a very large edition, or print count, for me. Gregory taught me a registration method that allowed very little room for any registration errors, and allowed me to work faster through the large edition. I would not be where I am today with the help of the Art Gym. Now it being the end of 2024, I am very excited and proud to say that I am designing and printing gig posters full-time.
What are you hoping to communicate through your work? I hope to communicate confidence and belief in oneself through my work. I think there is enough darkness and depression in the world to focus my art around that too. I try to portray brightness and hope.
Who and/or what are some of your biggest artistic influences? Music, obviously, is a huge influence in my artwork and style. I am very inspired by Caitlin Mattisson, a fellow female gig-poster artist. She designs for a wide range of music styles/ genres. Although I seem to have a natural style, I want my style to be able to be transformed for different genres of music. I believe this is true of life as well, we change, our thoughts change, tastebuds, feelings towards this or that, relationships, etc.
What does your artwork mean to you? My artwork means the absolute world to me. I have always been very determined to do my art full time. No other jobs, and I have quite the resume- haha, have really satisfied my interests or made me feel full.
