Open March 2 – April 2.
Art Gym is excited to present “Bodies of Erosion” a solo exhibition of new work from member William Clayton on view in The Leyden Jar. Please join us and the artist for a reception on Thursday March 2 from 6-9PM.
“Bodies of Erosion is a gallery show celebrating the work I have done during my time in Wilson’s College Low-Residency MFA program. This work brings together the different facets of my creative talents as an interdisciplinary artist. I am constantly inspired by natural shapes, especially when examining how they were formed, often at the hands of Erosion. It is a powerful force that has shaped our land for ages and in this work, I play with how that force also works on our bodies.”
William Clayton is a performer, choreographer, and visual artist, originally from Riverside California. A lifetime of dancing in the studio has driven him to create art that is a reflection of the expressive power of movement. As a choreographer, he seeks to show the power of intimate human connection in overcoming obstacles. In all things, he seeks to celebrate the resilience of love and the transformational qualities of life that allow us to become constantly anew. The images I shared are cropped versions of some of the paintings. They have been made in a triptych of primary colors, so I thought it would be nice to contain a little bit of three of them for the posters if possible. These photos also aren’t the best quality, my phone leaves a little something to be desired when it comes to capturing my work. Is there a camera available at the Artgym to get better quality photos? I will be there tomorrow from 12-2 and later, as well as Monday, and could do a photoshoot of the work then.
