A two-person show of portraits painted by Art Gym Artists Emma Krantz and William Oviatt.

Delving into the intricate relationship between artist and subject, Reflections and Refractions is a collaborative exhibition investigating the identity, emotion, and meaning people can carry in portraiture. Whether it’s a reflection of their surroundings or the filter through which they see things, William Oviatt and Emma Krantz share the common desire to capture complex emotions and life’s magical moments by interpreting the human body. Each brush stroke creates a dialogue between art and viewer, encapsulating life’s most serene moments. “I think portraiture can be an incredible vessel for meaning. I feel I relate to Emma’s artwork through the desire to understand others and push toward depicting people in a complex and multi-faceted way,” says Oviatt.
