Giving critiques and getting critiques is part of the process that brings the community of artists together. So, whether you bring your art or view someone else’s, join the discussion and learn from each other during this free public event. The monthly informal critiques welcome moderators from the Denver art community alongside Art Gym staff while guests enjoy the provided snacks and drinks. Critique sessions are limited to ten people showing work, so sign up today and join us on Wednesday February 7 from 6-9PM with guest moderator, artist, and Meow Wolf‘s Denver Artist Liaison, Brandon Vargas.
If you would like to join the conversation without sharing work, no need to RSVP – Just show up!
Brandon Vargas is a curator, painter, muralist, and interdisciplinary artist who received their BFA from the University of Colorado, Denver. Their work has been shown in solo and group shows at galleries including Dateline, Art Gym, Redline, and the Center for Visual Arts along with murals around Denver. Brandon utilizes traditional and digital tools to make art that explores layered narratives derived from identity, autonomy, and mythology. Inspired by aesthetic techniques and symbolism from Middle Ages portraiture and surrealism, Brandon experiments with deliberate styles of rendering to depict personal and universal experiences through metaphor and narrative creating vivid and colorful worlds that feel fantastical and dramatic. Brandon also works as Meow Wolf’s Denver Artist Liaison along with serving on the board of two arts nonprofits, Denver Digerati and La Serra.
