A Leyden Jar is an electric capacitor which stores a high-voltage charge on conductors inside and outside of the jar. When the two conductors are connected, a spark occurs resulting in a small flash of light and electricity. Much like a Leyden Jar, artists develop ideas from outside sources, and when those ideas are connected to a space where they can create their work, magic happens. In Art Gym’s newest member exhibit, Leyden Jar, returning members react to the creative energy found in the building. The exhibition runs from July 1 through July 18 with an opening reception on Thursday, July 1 from 5-8PM.
Included in the exhibition are: John Ball, Monique Binswanger, Valeri Clarke, Gigia Kolouch, Leon Loughridge, David Manchester, Amy Marsh, David McCanless, John Passaro, Mandi Quinn, and Danny Teitelbaum.
