For three ½ hours on Saturday and Sunday on October 15th and 16th, we will focus on learning and creating a watercolor piece. This workshop will provide insights into watercolor painting and techniques and give students the tools to create their own paintings moving forward. Tools are watercolor paints, a palette, watercolor paper, brushes and tape which will be provided by the artist. Each person will leave the class with a finished floral watercolor portrait and with the techniques to create their own in the future.
Born and raised in Colorado, I have enjoyed painting from a young age and love expressing my ideas and coming up with new art. I pursued drawing and painting throughout my childhood and young adolescence. I then attended college at University of Colorado Boulder in 2014-2018 for a degree in Environmental Design/architecture, and from there pursued architecture as a career and worked in firms for a few years. After experiencing many hardships in life, I decided to leave architecture and return to life as an artist. Art is a therapeutic process that allows me to express myself creatively. I enjoy sharing and capturing stories through my art. I use primarily watercolors to depict colors, emotions and moments to share a narrative. Watercolor allows me to share emotion and stories and the flowing of the water and colors speaks to that. I enjoy pursuing a variety of mediums and styles to express my ideas as it keeps me from feeling stuck in one place with art. Painting florals and portraits is a therapeutic and relaxing process that expresses emotions like grief and joy.
