Art Gym Gallery is excited to present Idea. Line. Process – An exhibition of the current Eric L. Porter Scholarship recipients here at Art Gym. The exhibition will highlight the work of the six artists who received the scholarship residency in 2022. Please join us and the artists for an opening reception on Friday, January 13 from 6-8PM.

Artists included in this exhibition: Zach Armijo, Colleen Hennessy, Jae Zander Kitinoja, Julie Kitzes, Payton Landes, and Anna Pausch.

The Eric L. Porter Scholarship is for artists who lack the financial means, workspace, and equipment to explore, realize and further expand their art practice by providing a material stipend of up to $500.00 and a 6-month Full Access membership to Art Gym. Artist mentoring and critiques will be part of this award and scholarship. A “pop up” style event will conclude the scholarship as well as other programming throughout the recipient’s time at Art Gym.

Eric Porter and his wife Ingrid were two of the first members at Art Gym, joining the community in 2015. It was a privilege for other Art Gym members and staff to experience Eric’s immense talent, constant smile, and passion for art, while his contemplative drawings always left viewers in a state of quiet reflection.

To honor Eric’s passing from complications of a bone marrow transplant for leukemia, Art Gym has set up The Eric Porter Memorial Scholarship Fund for friends, family or anyone who wants to support local artists to donate to this fund. The scholarship will provide artists the opportunity to explore their talent with the same joy and passion that Eric imbued into his work.
