Exhibit Reception: Between Micro and Macro

Leyden Jar
10.23-11.30
As a data scientist by day and artist by night, Jenny Yu blends her analytical precision with her creative practice as a landscape artist. With the Rocky Mountains as her muse and her scientific training as her background, she zooms in on how shapes and patterns interact with the landscape to evoke an emotional connection. “My work is focused on the dialogues of shapes, temperature, and edges in landscape composition,” explains Yu. “Being so close to the great outdoors and vast mountains in Colorado has been a major inspiration for my art.” Along with exploring the natural world around her, the collection documents her journey of artistic exploration through color mixing and technique testing while combining the macro and micro details she observes. “Between Micro and Macro,” a collection of oil paintings and encaustic works, opens in the Leyden Jar with a reception on October 23th from 6 – 9 PM.
