These three oil paintings, The Boy in the Sky; Behold the Infinite Gem; and The Yellow, the Pink, and the Goddamn Green, work as a series pointing to an immutable essence beyond indestructibility. Whether it is the soft pink love crystalized in the Queer experience, the alchemical firepower and union of force and receptivity of the Triangle, or the unbreakable diamond at the core of the world of Mara and illusion – there is indescribable harmony and infinity created under the most extreme of temperatures and pressures. It’s with vitality that this series of paintings express and honor what is possible on the other side of, or within the depths of, tragedy, suffering, and heartache.
Evan is a visual artist originally trained with a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art at Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri. He then pursued the interface of visual arts and human psychology via a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Psychology and Transpersonal Art Therapy program at Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado. As an art psychotherapist and certified trauma healing therapist, Evan created and has run since 2016 a private art psychotherapy practice, Studio Spectral PLLC, where clients use the art-making process to gain spiritual insights, grow self-esteem, form healthy relationships, and heal from trauma. Similarly, Evan’s personal artistic works often reflect core tenets of the human experience, including balancing of duality and dialectics, holism, psychosynthesis and archetypal expression, and resiliency through trauma.
