Art Gym is excited to announce Drawn to the Mall by Brian Kearney in the Common Space Gallery. Drawn to the Mall uses drawing to document the Cherry Creek Mall. Join us for an opening on Thursday, January 23 from 5-8PM.

Not having grown up with shopping malls, the concept has been a source of interest for artist Brian Kearney. His simultaneous disgust and curiosity have led him to embark on a book-length project documenting his fascination with malls. Seeing these spaces as both religious and theatrical, Kearney combines his unique drawing style with text to play on his curiosity. He explains further in his artist statement: “The interplay of written and drawn elements provides a form reflective of this tension, and the combination of both disciplines allows me to create an embodied vision of the mall that neither writing nor drawing could achieve alone.”
