Art Gym Gallery is honored to exhibit Circle, an invitational exhibition of metalsmith work, curated by Randy Burns. The exhibition will be open from September 12 – October 4. Join us for the opening reception on Thursday, September 12 from 5-8PM.
“Artist; architects, interior designers, engineers, tradesmen, and a host of other product makers have utilized the circle as a design element since time began. For this exhibit, I invited a group of Colorado metalsmiths to produce works meant to exploit the circle as the primary design element. The circle which is a flat disk, a dome of varying heights and the cylinder offer great potential for design.
“The artist involved in this exhibit span three generations; some with decades of experience, others with only a few years of experience. They come from varying educational backgrounds in metals and jewelry which include academic, industry trained, and self-taught.
“The objective of the exhibit is the outcome i.e. a group of artists beginning with the same parameters using the same primary design element to explore their own creative expression. The diversity reinforces that the individual is alive and well.”
Circle includes work by Amy Bailey, Alex Boyd, Judy Brown, Randy Burns, Mary Eckels, Lindsey Scot Ernst, Jessie Lycan, Jamie McLandsborough, Gary Manuel, Harold O’Connor, Jamie Spears, and Hillary West.
Also opening at Art Gym Denver is Bijoux Metals, an exhibition of pieces created by the Art Gym metalsmith members in Common Space Gallery. Join us for an opening reception September 12 from 5 – 8PM.
The opening receptions and exhibitions and programs are free and open to the public. They will be on display from September 12 through October 4, 2019.
