Four Mondays, October 23 – November 13. 5:30-8PM.
Discover the joys of watercolor painting in just four weeks with Beginning Watercolor class. Unlock your creativity as you learn essential techniques, explore various materials, and create stunning watercolor paintings. Begin your journey by mastering fundamental techniques and familiarizing yourself with materials. Through hands-on exercises, you’ll learn blending, layering, and color mixing, as well as how to choose and use brushes, paints, and papers effectively. We’ll take those techniques into a still life painting where I’ll guide you through composition, lighting, and color harmony. You’ll then learn to navigate creating texture in watercolor by painting a landscape. Finally, we’ll end the class with a personal project with instructor support as well as exploring some ways to develop your own personal style. Whether you’re a beginner or seeking to expand your artistic horizons, this course is your gateway to the world of watercolor.
Meet Lisa Riannson: An artist on a mission to capture the beauty of contrast, the explosion of colors, and the magic in tiny details. From the delicate dance of glass reflections to the intricate veins of flower petals, she finds inspiration in the often overlooked. Best known for her lifelike watercolor depictions of wine glasses, Lisa’s art has taken a dynamic turn. Her recent pieces blend abstract elements with mixed media, using fluid acrylics and watercolor techniques to amplify expression, boldness, and depth. Lisa isn’t just an artist; she’s a creative mentor. With a knack for making watercolors less mysterious, she’s taught aspiring artists at the Colorado Free University and the Park Hill Art Club. Students adore her for being relatable and motivating. She even wowed audiences as a demo artist at the Denver Art Museum in 2020. Nestled in Centennial, Colorado, Lisa works her magic from home surrounded by her family. (You might also spot her work credited under the name Lisa Garrison—same captivating art, different artistic alias.)
