Kelly Austin Rolo is a contemporary artist working in Denver, Colorado.
She received her B.F.A. from Syracuse University and started her career in NYC as a corporate designer. After living and working in New York City for 15 years, she spent time in rural New York and Connecticut.

A recent transplant to Denver, her work explores the natural world and our man-made landscapes and cityscapes. Kelly's cyclical process of creation to destruction and back to creation allows her to play with the colors and wax, working their shapes over time, resulting in organic and harmonious forms.

"I am inspired by the unending possibilities that creating with wax allows me. From building up and creating texture, to scraping and fusing with a torch and creating smooth, glass-like surfaces, every day brings something new. I am constantly learning about this medium and all of the possibilities. I am intrigued by the fragile and durable qualities of wax as a medium. My work varies from striving to develop transparency and light from within to creating depth and texture."

Focusing on the rural and urban landscape, Kelly’s paintings and collages are her abstract interpretation of space/place and the different ways in which they can be viewed. As an artist, Kelly’s training as a designer has an impact on the architectural quality of her painting. She strives for organization of the chaotic in her compositions.
