Makers kitchen is a small-scale commercial kitchen which has been designed to help a variety of food businesses such as caterers, small-scale production, food truck operators, personal chefs, etc. Makers Kitchen is fully licensed and certified through the City and County of Denver.

How much does it cost?

Do I need to be licensed? Do I need Insurance?
  • Yes, your business must be appropriately insured, with general liability coverage of at least $2MM
  • Liability coverage is generally very affordable, contact your insurance broker for more information
  • Members are required to provide Art Gym with current proof of insurance and coverage levels
  • If you have employees working in the space, proof of Workers Compensation Insurance may be required
Can I use the kitchen as a test kitchen?

Yes, Makers Kitchen can be contracted for use as a development/ test kitchen. Some restrictions apply, please inquire about your specific needs prior to application.

Can I rent the kitchen by the hour?
  • No, the Makers Kitchen is not designed for use by the hour. Membership rates vary based on the number of hours anticipated in a week.
  • If a member occasionally needs more hours than their contract allows, these hours may be added to a given week for a fee. Availability is determined based on the weekly schedule, so should be discussed with management prior to your need.

Is there storage space? 

Storage is available for culinary members. Prices and availability vary, please let us know your specific needs for more information.

Can I have employees in the Makers Kitchen?

Yes, employees of members can work in the kitchen.

Is there parking?

We have parking available to members on a first come-first served basis in addition to street parking. A limited number of spaces are available for food truck parking, please inquire for availability and cost.

Is the kitchen open 24/7? What are the hours?

Your available hours and windows for use will be determined along with your contract. In general, the Makers Kitchen is available for production Monday - Friday, 8am - 8pm, Saturday,  9am - 8 pm, closed on Sundays unless by special arrangement

Can I sell my food through the Art Gym Cafe?

Yes, there is opportunity to sell your product through the Art Gym Cafe, though this is not guaranteed and must be discussed on an individual basis.

Can I rent the space for events?

Generally Art Gym is not available for events. Please inquire with your specific needs for more information

Can I brew small batch beer?

No

Do we have packaging / canning equipment?

No

Do we have a blast chiller?

No

Can I host dinners/tastings/classes there?

Yes, approval needed from management, restrictions apply.

Do you offer training? 

The expectation is that culinary members are already proficient in their field, have the knowledge to work safely and efficiently, and are well versed in all sanitation rules and best practices for food safety.

Can I work in other parts of Art Gym?

Yes, members are welcome to work in any area they have qualified to work within as well as open workspaces. The only caveat is that the artists who have selected an area as their focus will always be given first priority for scheduling time in a given area. 

How do the meeting / quiet / classrooms work?

Meeting / quiet rooms may be reserved by members for client meetings, and private (clean) work. When not reserved, meetings rooms are available as quiet (clean) workspaces but must be relinquished for reserved meetings.  These rooms can also be reserved for classes or full day and part day sessions, but do accrue a fee so please check with member services for more information. Not suitable for cooking/dining/prep space.

Can I bring guests into Makers Kitchen?

Yes, members may bring guests into Art Gym on an occasional basis. For example, all members have access to the meeting/quiet rooms and may ask a client to meet them here for a meeting. Or, a member may wish to show a friend or client where they create, and may give tours etc. Guests must be over the age of 18 and sign in at the front desk. Members assume all liability for their visiting guests and are asked to remember that our members are our first priority and guests are not intended to in any way inhibit the ability of our members to create. Guests that interfere with our members or in any way pose a safety risk will be asked to leave.

Who can use Art Gym?

Art Gym is aimed at creatives over the age of 18 at all points in their career track who can demonstrate proficiency in their chosen field. All members are vetted into the space and have to pass a review process. The goal of this vetting process is not to limit opportunity, but rather to insure a culture of work and creativity among a group of driven professionals.

Can Art Gym accommodate people with disabilities?

Art Gym is built for complete compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). We are wheelchair accessible and our intention is inclusiveness. If your disability requires special arrangements, please speak with our membership team and we will work hard to make sure your needs are cared for.
